Gilli goes Green

Hello Everyone!  It is so good to be back.  I needed to take a break for a little while and catch up with my “real” life.  Don’t you hate it when you real life gets in the way of your crafting?  It feels so good to back!  I am thrilled to share with you a Gilli inspiration project today.

Today starts a new challenge over at he House of Gilli and in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we would like you to use something Green on your project!  Pretty simple right?  Oh there are so many different ways you can incorporate green into your project.

My project features Jeans Gilli getting ready for spring!  While there is still a lot of snow on the ground here in Michigan, I am dreaming of springtime.  So I thought this would be the perfect project to bring a little spring time cheer.

I tend to shy away from patterned paper in my projects. I am not sure why.  I have TONS of patterned paper, and I love to look at it!When I do use it I tend to use just one as an accent.  So I challenged myself to use some of my patterned paper and use a solid only as an accent.  I am pleasantly surprised at how it turned out!  I may have to do this more often.  I mixed patterns and textures for my card base.  I didn’t add any green to Gilli herself because I wanted her to stand out from the rest of the card.  Gilli is of course colored with Copics (could I color with anything else anymore?).

I hope you hop on over to the House of Gilli blog and enter your green project for this current challenge!

As a bonus for sticking with me during my absence if you leave a comment on this post, I will pick a name next weekend to send a surprise goodie to.  Good luck!

Hugs, Wini

Anything But a Card

Hi Everyone!!  Today starts a new challenge over at Through the CraftRoom Door (TTCRD)!  I hope you will jump on over and join us over there.  Today’s challenge is Anything but a Card and make your own embellishments.  How fun right?  And so many possibilities.

So my project is really a Non-Project.  I have been working on reorganizing my craft area after relocating it over Christmas Break.  One of the big things I wanted was better Copic storage.  My husband made my last storage unit but I have outgrown it – you can see my old storage HERE.

So I designed a new storage unit that will hold up to 600 Sketch Markers!  Yes I know, Copic doesn’t have 600 colors yet but I will be prepared!!  I also wanted to be able to store them by color family - so my homemade embellishment is the the storage cabinet itself!

I decorated it with some vinyl and some Gilli stamps.  I am not sure I like the way the decorations turned out, but I can always change them later.

Don’t forget to enter your Anything But a Card and Make your Own Embellishments project over on TTCRD for you chance to win a $15 Ippity Gift Certificate!

Gilli Towel

Hi Everyone!!  It’s my turn to share a project with for the new Anything Goes challenge at the House of Gilli.  I am so excited to share my first Gilli project of 2012 with all of you!

I am always willing to try new projects so today I thought I would try coloring with my Copics on fabric!  I know, I know – I am not the first to do this.  In fact I used this great video by Suzanne J. Dean as my inspiration for todays project.

I used Girly 2 Gilli for this fun project. I started with a plain Flour Sack towel. I love these things. They are great for drying dishes as they do not leave any lint behind. I think I must have at least 20 of these in my closet.  I then stamped Girly 2 using Memento Black ink.  Being very careful I started coloring with my copics.  Don’t get too close to the edges or the ink will bleed out.  I used the following colors:  E00 for her skin (layered it for shading), E33, E35 and Y38 for her hair and finally R81, R83 and R85 for her dress, shoes and hair bows.

I can’t wait to see what you make for our Anything Goes Challenge!!  Be sure to head on over to the House of Gilli to enter your project for a chance to win a great Gilli Goodie.

You also still have time to enter your project over on TTCRD for a chance to win $50 gift certificate.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Monochromatic Card

Hi Everyone!!  Welcome to 2012!!  I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year and is excited for what 2012 has to bring.

Today started a new challenge over on Through The Craftroom Door Challenge Blog – the current theme is a Monochromatic project.  I am finding that I really like these monochromatic projects.  It is so fun to find items that fit the theme.  I made a card in blue for this challenge.  I stepped out of my comfort zone a little and went with a distressed feel.

I think it turned out quite nice!

Be sure to enter your monochromatic project over on TTCRD for a chance to win a GREAT prize!!  This challenge is sponsored by and you have a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!!  WOW!!!
